Lots of Edgar Allan Poe Goodness!

Thumb_Ep_20Good morning, friends! I just wanted to drop a quick note to say hello and let you know that I am up to my eyeballs in awesomeness that I am dying to share with you. As soon as I can, you can rest assured that I won’t hold back!

If you have not already done so, please drop by Line Webtoon and check out the brand-new page of Terra Somnium by myself and artist, Louise Fitzgerald. We are nearing the end of the first chapter, and things have gotten extremely tense!

teaser_01In case you missed the big news, we will be launching a campaign for a Kickstarter-exclusive special PRINTED edition of The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe #1 on July 31st! We are absolutely thrilled! We get asked quite often about print copies of our books, so this will give us the opportunity to get our first printed book into our lovely, intelligent (shall I keep going?), attractive viewers’ hands (good enough?). So please, mark your calendars and plan to pledge. We will need to hit it fast and hard at the jump in order to reach our goal. We’ll also be sharing never-before-seen Poe-related art, videos, and other goodies with those who pledge along the way, so it’s going to be exciting!

As always, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you how much we appreciate the support and encouragement we receive from you every day. Sometimes it feels like a battle that would be easier to avoid or abandon, but YOU are always there with a word of encouragement, a share, a like, or an e-mail that steels our courage and presses us to redouble our efforts. We truly appreciate it. And to our patrons: you all are the best. We literally could not do this without you. If you have not yet become a patron, you can do that RIGHT HERE. $1 a month or $100, it all helps, and it all goes toward making comics. Patreon is being jerky right now, but as soon as it lets me, I’ll be sharing a top secret peek at the cover for I-Team #1 with our patrons, so now is a wonderful time to join us!

I’m Bringing The 80’s Back!

We took some time off in the middle of a busy week to catch the U2 Joshua Tree show in Tampa on June 14th. Rebecca goes back a long way with these guys, from her time living in Dublin, Ireland, through her years of working in the music biz and hanging out with the band–which is another blog post in itself, one I have been trying to get her to write for ages!

The show was phenomenal in every way! I’ve always been told that U2 is a band you have to experience live, and they were right. This was my first time seeing the band I’ve loved since I first saw the video to “Sunday Bloody Sunday” on MTV when I was a teen, so it was really a special experience. Rebecca and I danced and sang along as the band played a grueling set that lasted more than 2 hours. We were in the pit, so we could see the sweat dripping from Bono’s hands. At one point Bono remarked that it was “Muy caliente!” And it was. Hot and humid and Bono was–well–classic Bono, dancing and gesticulating through the Joshua Tree set (and especially during the encore). We were spent after the show, so I’m sure the band was as well! We are now all much older. This isn’t the ’80s, after all!

This experience was made even more awesome because I’m working on a comic that takes place in the 80’s–a time Rebecca and I feel very nostalgic for as pop culture and music was so unique, fresh, and fun. I am having a blast writing the story and I’m sure you are really going to really dig it. Especially if you are a child of the 80’s.

Marco “ET Dollman” Della Verde Joins Hocus Pocus Comics!

marco-della-verde

Hocus Pocus Comics has added comic veteran, Marco “ETDollman” Della Verde to their team! Marco has been writing and lettering comics for 20 years. His work has been published by Comics Experience Publishing/IDW, Image Comics, AC Comics, 21 Pulp, McFarland Books, Markosia, Arcana, Moonstone Books, Metal Magazine, AC Comics, and Stache Publishing. He is totally metal and we love him for that!

I’ve been friends with Marco for several years and his love for comics is contagious. That’s what really impressed me about him and cemented our relationship. There are many who make comics, but there are precious few who understand that without a love for the medium, they will not endure. Hey, it’s hard work making comics, and only the most tenacious and dedicated will make it. Marco has proven himself to be a warrior, and I want him on my side when we go into battle.
