Brand-New Terra Somnium: Counting Down to The End

Happy Poe Wednesday! We are counting down to the final page of Terra Somnium on Line Webtoon. It’s been a wonderful experience working with artists Louise Fitzpatrick and Federico Luchetti, and letterers Marco Della Verde and Pietro “Pitt” Rotelli, and I’ll be sad to see it end. But, as you know, it’s not really ending. Terra Somnium is merely a prequel to The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe. A prologue, if you will. The good news is that we had a fantastic time creating 2 solid chapters of Poe-related content that has been viewed by more than 8,000 people. And if it has pointed even one reader to the work of Edgar Allan Poe, it’s totally been worth it!

First Stretch Goal REVEALED!

I’m thrilled to say that we reached the first stretch goal on our Kicksarter campaign this past weekend! We’ve already revealed what has been unlocked (unearthed?) to our supporters, but now it’s time to share the exciting news with everyone.

The talented guys of The Corpse Crew will be illustrating a brand-new story for The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe Issue 3! And, not only that, but it will feature an appearance by their cult favorite character, THE LIVING CORPSE!

If you haven’t pledged to our campaign yet, what are you waiting for? We have back issues of the first two books available if you missed them, so we’ve got you all covered. These special Kickstarter editions feature exclusive content that will never be available anywhere else and when they’re gone, they’re gone!

We will reveal the next stretch goal when we hit $3k. Will you join us and help spread the word to make it happen?

(Un)Happy Poe Wednesday

Happy Poe Wednesday, friends! I’m thrilled to say that we’ve just posted a brand-new page of Terra Somnium for your viewing pleasure on Line Webtoon. You can view it by clicking the ghostly teaser image below (if you dare)!

And now the unhappy news: I’ve decided to end Terra Somnium with the completion of Chapter 2 (Page 24). While it has certainly been fun to further explore the magical land in the mind of Edgar Allan Poe, we have decided to call it quits–at least for the foreseeable future–and concentrate our efforts on The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe. The good news in all this is that Terra Somnium artist, Federico Luchetti, will be joining Andrea Messi to assist with color art on issues 5-12. While it saddens me that one chapter of Poe’s story is ending, I’m happy that Federico is joining the team to ensure that we continue to deliver our flagship title to you, our dear readers, in a timely manner. Not to say that we’ve been slacking! No, sir! But with the larger part of the story remaining to be told, adding a valuable member to the team who can contribute right away will no doubt help us in the long run.

The last bit of news is a reminder that the campaign for the Kickstarter-Exclusive Printed Edition of The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe issue #3 will launch on February 2nd. So mark your calendars, save the day, or insert the current marketing catchphrase here.  The 2nd is swiftly approaching and we hope that you will help us spread the word and “bum rush” the campaign on the first day to get this issue funded. We thank YOU for making this happen with issues 1 and 2 and thank you in advance for your assistance with issue 3. With wonderful supporters like you, we have no doubt that we will make this happen (again)!

Sincerely yours,

Dwight & Rebecca

Poe Takes Over ComiXology!

Okay… maybe not.

But The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe issue 4, released on the last New Comic Book Day of 2017, has been featured on ComiXology’s main page! We are so thrilled and thankful! You can now read the entire first chapter of our epic tale by downloading issues 1-4 on ComiXology or Amazon Kindle, so we are chuffed to pieces about that!

This week we received a wonderful note from the mom of a reluctant reader gushing about how much her son loves our book and can’t wait for the next issue. “I’ve never seen him so excited about reading,” she said.  That, my friends, is what it’s all about!

One last note: please don’t forget to vote for The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe for Comic Book of the Year on BareBones Entertainment’s site! Voting is only open until January 5th, so please do that now if you haven’t already done so. It only takes a few seconds and you can vote anonymously, so it’s pretty painless. There is one vote allowed per IP, so make it count!

Happy New Year!

-Dwight, Rebecca, and the HP Comics Crew

Can We Count on You?

KS_Poe_twitter

MONDAY is the day, my friends! Monday, July 31st, we will be launching our campaign for the Kickstarter-exclusive PRINTED Special Edition of The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe #1! This special edition will only be available in this form on Kickstarter, so you will want to make sure you get your copy! It features a beautiful new cover from David Hartman (see the teaser image above) and a special Making-Of section that is being designed by artist and HP Comics Production Manager, Tricia Martin. It is going to be gorgeous! We will also be including special prints produced exclusively for this project along with an Edgar Allan Poe t-shirt designed by series artist, Luis Czerniawski, and Tricia Martin. Trust me: you’re going to want one of these!

One of the (hard) lessons I learned about Kickstarter is that you need to have supporters pledge as early as possible. If there is a mad rush to pledge on day one your project has a much better chance of being noticed by Kickstarter staff and receiving additional promotion on their site. So I’m asking you to pledge as soon as you possibly can. Hit it hard and we’ll let Kickstarter know that we love a little Poe! And be sure to spread the love on social media as well. That helps us big time.

As soon as the project is live I’ll be all over social media breaking the news. And if you FOLLOW ME ON KICKSTARTER you’ll find out even before they do. So that’s definitely the best option.

We love you guys and thank you for helping us make comics! We very literally couldn’t do this without you!

-Dwight

Lots of Edgar Allan Poe Goodness!

Thumb_Ep_20Good morning, friends! I just wanted to drop a quick note to say hello and let you know that I am up to my eyeballs in awesomeness that I am dying to share with you. As soon as I can, you can rest assured that I won’t hold back!

If you have not already done so, please drop by Line Webtoon and check out the brand-new page of Terra Somnium by myself and artist, Louise Fitzgerald. We are nearing the end of the first chapter, and things have gotten extremely tense!

teaser_01In case you missed the big news, we will be launching a campaign for a Kickstarter-exclusive special PRINTED edition of The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe #1 on July 31st! We are absolutely thrilled! We get asked quite often about print copies of our books, so this will give us the opportunity to get our first printed book into our lovely, intelligent (shall I keep going?), attractive viewers’ hands (good enough?). So please, mark your calendars and plan to pledge. We will need to hit it fast and hard at the jump in order to reach our goal. We’ll also be sharing never-before-seen Poe-related art, videos, and other goodies with those who pledge along the way, so it’s going to be exciting!

As always, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you how much we appreciate the support and encouragement we receive from you every day. Sometimes it feels like a battle that would be easier to avoid or abandon, but YOU are always there with a word of encouragement, a share, a like, or an e-mail that steels our courage and presses us to redouble our efforts. We truly appreciate it. And to our patrons: you all are the best. We literally could not do this without you. If you have not yet become a patron, you can do that RIGHT HERE. $1 a month or $100, it all helps, and it all goes toward making comics. Patreon is being jerky right now, but as soon as it lets me, I’ll be sharing a top secret peek at the cover for I-Team #1 with our patrons, so now is a wonderful time to join us!

Horror Novel Reviews Loves The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe #1

bannerresizedjpeg

Special thanks to Matt Molgaard for the outstanding review of The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe #1!

This paragraph fills me with so much joy:

“The book’s dark tone is balanced by an honest innocence ingrained in the characters. That’s one of the things that helps The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe to shine. It feels like a personal book. It also feels organic, characters generally making logical decisions that accompany rational reactions. It just works. The elements demanded and required to reach iconic status are in place. It’s time we find out if MacPherson and Czerniawski are prepared to showcase consistency over a planned 12-issue story arc. We’re certainly rooting for this awesome duo!”

If you have not yet downloaded your copy of The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe #1, you can do so on Kindle or ComiXology–or both! Hey, why not?
